WIND POWER IN MONTANA

Wibaux Wind + Storage Project

in development

AES’ Wibaux wind farm is a planned wind and energy storage facility in Wibaux County, Montana. The project will be located entirely on privately owned lands about 1.5 miles west of the town of Wibaux, Montana. The project will incorporate advanced wind generation technology, battery energy storage, and will diversify the state's energy resources.

Economic and environmental benefits

We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.

235 MW

of new, low-cost energy production capacity contributing to a more diversified power supply and resilient power grid for the state of Montana and beyond.

$58 million

in new property tax revenue expected to be generated that will support local schools, and public services.

200 Jobs

estimated to be created during peak construction + up to 5 permanent operations jobs

Project details

  • The project will connect to the power grid at the existing WAPA Mingusville substation.
  • AES will be the long-term owner and operator of the project and plans to be a long-term community partner for decades to come.
  • During operations, the project's facilities will encompass less than 2-3% of total leased land, allowing for compatible ranching and farming.
