SOLAR POWER IN COLORADO

Cramer Creek solar + storage project

in development

AES’ Cramer Creek solar-plus-storage project is a planned clean energy facility that will incorporate the most advanced solar and energy storage technologies. The project is designed to minimize impact on the local environment and will support Colorado’s clean energy goal of 100% renewable energy by 2040.

Rows of solar panels are installed on a grassy field under a clear blue sky. The panels are angled to capture sunlight, creating a pattern of reflective surfaces. A shadow falls across the grass, cast by the panels.

Our clean energy commitment

AES’ Cramer Creek solar + storage project is a planned facility in Colorado. We are committed to responsible clean energy development that creates long-term value and positive impact for both the environment and local communities.

Economic and environmental benefits

We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.

Utilizes land near existing electric grid infrastructure to minimize need for new overhead transmission lines

Will be designed in accordance with the latest applicable codes, safety standards, security, lighting, landscaping and noise requirements

Expected economic benefits include $35 million in tax revenue and 250 local jobs during construction and operations

Project details

The Cramer Creek solar + storage project serves as a model for future projects across Colorado, demonstrating how such projects can integrate seamlessly into the local economy while providing affordable clean energy. In addition to powering homes and businesses, the Cramer Creek project will also help strengthen the energy grid and ensure a sustainable, reliable energy supply during peak demand periods.

  • 1.5 million+_MWh of carbon-free electricity generated each year
  • 623,801 tons of CO2 emissions expected to be offset annually—equivalent to emissions from burning nearly 115 million gallons of gasoline
  • $1.4 billion in estimated capital investment into the economy over the life of the project
  • $35 million in estimated new, local tax revenue generated throughout the project’s lifespan
