SOLAR POWER IN LOUISIANA

Evangeline Solar Project

in development

AES’ Evangeline solar project is a planned solar facility that will incorporate the most advanced solar energy technology and is designed to minimize impact on the local environment. We are committed to accelerating a safe and responsible transition to clean energy that benefits the communities where we work.

Our clean energy commitment

AES’ Evangeline Solar Project is a planned facility in Louisiana. We are committed to responsible clean energy development that creates long-term value and positive impact for both the environment and local communities.

Economic and environmental benefits

We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.

Project details

The Evangline Project serves as a model for future projects across Louisiana, demonstrating how such projects can integrate seamlessly into the local economy while providing affordable clean energy. In addition to powering homes and businesses, the project will also help strengthen the energy grid and ensure a sustainable, reliable energy supply during peak demand periods.

  • AES will be long-term owner and operator of the Evangeline solar facility – responsible for maintenance over the life of the project.
  • The project is being developed responsibly with set-backs a minimum of 25 feet away from any adjacent property boundary, 50 feet from public roads, and 100 feet from occupied dwellings in compliance with the local ordinance.
  • Evangeline Solar feeds into the CLECO Transmission System.
  • At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the 2,300 acres of land leased for the project to return to agricultural use or other uses consistent with land-use policies at the time.

Sustainability Resources

Sustainability best practices

At AES, safety is our highest priority, and we’ve focused on improving lives for more than 40 years. As a leading innovator in energy solutions, sustainability is core to both our strategy and our culture. We are committed to responsible land use and incorporating sustainable best practices into the entire project lifecycle, contributing to building a domestic circular renewables economy and reducing foreign dependence.

Environmental and technical studies

AES’ Boone Hill project was studied extensively and carefully planned to have no negative impact on regulated habitats, threatened and endangered species or cultural and historical resources. AES is conducting ongoing consultations with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to ensure the sanctity of land.
